JDoramathon.

I usually have Mangathons during Holy Week (I didn't even manage to read any manga this year, unless you count my nth reread of Lovely Complex :p). But I wanted to do something new this year so I opted for a JDramathon. Although it was more a MatsuJunathon really. :p
Gokusen;
MARATHON!!!!! Rewatched the entire thing with
binsoup again. XD And it still remains my favorite Dorama of ALL TIME.
Except last year, when I first saw it, I thought that it was the best thing that ever happened to ShinKumi. But with the recent developments in the manga -- PLEASE. The ShinKumi moments in the drama pale in comparison.
But still. Jun/Yuki chemistry is the best.
saihara told me there were some rumors about Jun and Yukie going out in real life. If that were the truth, it'd make me one happy fan. I don't really usually care, but that'd e like ShinKumi in RL!! :p Sadly, no pictures have surfaced yet. Pft. And oh! Has anyone ever noticed how Shin never looks straight at Yankumi when he's talking to her? Its because he knows he'd blush if he does so. :p And Yukie is amazing as Yankumi. Like
binsoup pointed out, she's a good comedic actress, but she can be pretty versatile too, considering you really do feel the change that occurs when she changes from the dorky Yankumi to the respected Ojou.
And Jun, oh Jun! You look your best in this dorama. I realised, the ugly teeth -- I think he went to the dentist early on in the series. Early on, he never showed his teeth, but you could catch glimpses of it and they were FUGLY. But later on, he can smile and he'd still look wonderful. I mean, they still aren't the best teeth in the world, ut they aren't really that bad anymore. Plus Shin's fashion sense PWNZ Domyouji's IN EVERY WAY. I noticed it wasn't only the Shirokin uniform that masked Jun's stick-thinness. All his outfits did. Plus hello?! I'd choose those clothes over FLOWERYPOLO SHIRTS BLOUSES any old day. Plus Shin's skin is flawless. I don't know whether it was because of the dozen layers of foundation but he has skin blemishes as Domyouji. =__= And Shin's long hair over Domyouji's weird teased curls any other day. :p Of course I'm talking about the dorama versions here, ne? If you were to make me choose between Manga!Shin and Manga!Domyouji you'd be torturing my poor fangirl heart. ^^;
Episode 8 remains to be the only episode that made my eyes well up a bit. I didn't cry, but there were some tears. And that wans't even in the anime or manga. ^^; Episode 9 still OWNZ though. Uchi as head cheerleader? Gah. Shun, I LOVE YOU SO. But the Kuro x Shin x Uchi threesome is... O_O I still squeed over the "That makes four of us" line, but like before, the special had to ruin it all. WHY SHIN WHY?!?!?! WHY AFRICA OF ALL PLACES?!?!?! >< Its because you went to Africa that Yankumi went and did the blasphemous Gokusen 2. UGH.
Okay. Now I have to reread
mklutz's
30_kisses again. Just to make me feel better. (And, btw, my mother was wondering whatever happened to your Four Man War fic... ^^;)

"Oi!! That's the first time you called me Yankumi!"
Ahai~ Jun/Yuki chemistry at one of its finest. See how Shin never looks Yankumi in the eye. ;)

My Gokusen bois are LOVE. ♥♥♥
Hana Yori Dango;
I rewatched a few episodes for the sake of capping. Haven't reached thedepressing frustrating ending yet, so I guess this is my chance to ramble about this dorama semi-objectively. ^^
But gah, watching bits and pieces of HanaDan after rewatching Gokusen -- it has a different effect. :p Shun as the hotheaded Uchi (who seriously needs anger management courses :p) is WAAAAAAAAAAY different from Shun as the cool and aloof Rui. And I don't think I've said this before, but I love Inoue Mao. I think she's perfect as Tsukushi.
And I know I said before that the guys playing Jirou and Akira were so-so in my opinion, but guess what? They really grew on me. The guy playing Jirou was even kind of cute. But still. It wasn't the same way as they grew on me in the manga though, because in the manga, Jirou was my second favorite F4. T_T Maybe its my effin' bias but Rui holds that spot in the dorama. (Yes, D'OH. I LOVE DOMYOUJI TO BITS AS USUAL.)
And Sakurako is the most psychotic character. And she came out that way because THEY FUSED EVERY BIT OF SIDE IMPORTANT-ish CHARACTERS FROM THE MANGA AND CAME OUT WITH HER. I hate her. =_= In the manga, I don't love Sakurako, but she's fun. I liked how she spiced things up a bit. In the dorama I just wanted to get rid of her. Period. And Ayano, wtfugly?! Sorry. But the T.O.J. was a good finale, I guess. They took that away in the Taiwanese adaptation so I was way glad that they included it in this one. :D
I might not love the HYD dorama as much as the Gokusen dorama, but I love it still. It comes in at second. ♥ And I can't wait for the sequels to both the manga and the dorama. ;)

Yay, cast. Arashi's WISH is too catchy. T_____T

And the rain scene THAT CAN'T NOT BE THERE. XD They even dressed MatsuJun up in practically the exact same attire Manga!Domyouji had, hee.
Kimi wa Petto;
And yet another dorama
binsoup saw with me. (I think she's become attached to MatsuJun too, LOOOOOOL.) I haven't finished it yet (but
binsoup has, pft :p) and I'm not sure I want to yet. Because once I finish this, I'll be without MatsuJun for a while. (Until I get on my hands on Kindaichi 3 c/o
poyayan, ahai~)
I swear, I've become super attached to that guy. I've always liked him, he was Shin after all. Then he was Domyouji. But I never found him super cute or whatever. I love him, but I didn't find him as squee-worthy like I did, say... Endo Yuya. But now I do. After seeing him in all sorts of roles -- he's amazing. If you can pull off Shin's aloofness, then be believable as a dog with Momo's energy then next thing you know you're somewhere in between with Domyouji's dorkiness -- you're just amazing.
Jun as Momo is ♥♥ I wouldn't want a boy for a pet because that's just too wtf, but if it were MatsuJun, I guess I can't really blame Sumire. :p But hello weirdass fashion sense once again!!
mklutz, I've finally encountered the NUTs shirt!!! XO Although, hmm, I still think the flowery blouse is way worse than the NUTs shirt, haha. But Momo's fashion comes in a close second to Domyouji's if we're talking about the fugly. :p
But what I really like about Petto, is the storytelling, and the way the two main characters' relationship was developed. To be honest, I was rooting for Hasumi x Sumire at the beginning. I was never really into older woman-younger man relationships, Gokusen was a big exception. Plus Hasumi seemed really into Sumire and I kept wanting Sumire to be honest with him. Because if you take Momo out of the way, you can still have a perfectly functional shoujo plot.
I'm still only at episode 7 so I don't know if Hasumi will do anything that will prove him an ass, but he's pretty likeable. But halfway through the series, I just wanted his relationship with Sumire over with. Partly because I already felt sorry for him -- like the counselor-san said, Sumire will never be able to love a man. He will awlays be second to her pet, which is Momo, D'OH. Second, I just got tired of watching them fumble around, never getting anywhere. ENOUGH, geez. Sumire doesn't really want the guy, anyway. Sure, she might like him because he's kind and that's beyond the good looks, the height and the income, but it started because of that. If he never had any of those, she wouldn't have given him the time of day. And it isn't because Sumire's a bitch, its just because she was already hurt badly before. Sumire just doeasn't know what she needs. She's an incredibly fucked up, emotionally constipated character. Hello? Who the hell would take in a boy for a pet?! -_-
And I do believe she and Momo should just stay together for the rest if their lives. Both of them are so needy and clingy and selfish, they deserve each other, hah. And they need each other, not to mention they want each other.
Feh. I wonder how this ends? ^^;

Ichi Rittoru no Namida;
This dorama isn't meant to be marathoned. Swear to God it's not. And this is why I still haven't finished watching it even though I've had a copy for more than a month now. It reeks of SUPER DRAMA, the type I usually can't take. Especially not at large doses. ^^; I personally prefer doramas with a bit of comedy here and there (and this is why Gokusen remains my favorite).
BUT SURPRISINGLY ENOUGH, even though
chibi_boom once told me that I'd probably be annoyed at this series, I'm not, really. I just need to regulate my watching it, haha. :p
But I love them all, Aya included. Haruto is.. well, I partly understand now why
saihara loves Nishikido Ryo so much. (Partly, because I know a huge part of that loving comes from slashing him with Uchi *cough* LOL.) I have a special place in my heart for Ako too. I don't know why, right from the start I was drawn to her. I know she was mean and harsh and was extremely jealous of her sister at first, but I found it understandable. The parents took extra good care of Aya, treated her like a prized posession, like a baby -- and they wouldn't even explain to the other children that Aya was sick. Or what exactly Aya's disease was. But she loved her sister and was proud of her and was ready to do anything for her. She didn't even know how she was supposed to react when they were told of Aya's incurable disease. She didn't declare, like Hiroki and Rika, that she will stand by Aya's side. But she managed, and stood by her sister in her own way, and not once did she flinch. I know Aya is supposed to be the inspiration of this story, but I think Ako is a pretty strong character too. I can't explain it, but Ako is a character I can sort of relate to, even though our circumstances are different.
But the real reason why I went and actually saw more than an episode at once of this dorama this Holy Week? I was waiting for Haruto x Aya development. Mef. Yes, the OTP fangirl has struck again. I wanted to see how Haruto would be there for Aya. And I love the relationship, because it isn't just pity on Haruto's part. Aya interests him and inspires him, cheesy as it may sound. He can't help but be drawn to her.
The best thing about this dorama though? Catching En'ya in random scenes and squeeing on the side. Kyaa~n side character, LOL. Does he even have a name?! Oh yeah, wait, he does. I think Kawamoto introduces him to Aya and Mari in the first episode, LOL.

Ultraman MAX;
Somehow, while watching, I can't help but remember Katamari Damacy. *rolls over* But hello freakazoid effects!! LOL. Somehow, it seems to me, the special effects used in the earlier Ultraman series didn't really improve much. The "battle" and "air" settings remind me of toys I used to play with back then. *gets shot* I suddenly feel nostalgic, heh. :p
But hah!! AOYAMA SOUTA!! ...in Ultraman is way different than Sota in Tenimyu. :p Obviously, haha. You can't be Inui and be Ultraman at the same time, LOL.
I only saw the first episode though. Because apparently, while I LOVE SOTA TO BITS, apparently I can only handle so much cringeworthy effects. Still, Ultraman remains to be the only shokoy-type superhero who gets stronger everytime his "battery" runs low. :p Maybe some other day I'd have the energy to watch the entire thing. My fangirl tendencies lose to the fact that I've sort of outgrown Japanese superheroes. ^^;

Roketto Boisu;
Aiya!! FINALLY. Episodes 06 to end finally came out. THANK YOU
crux_australis FOR DOWNLOADING!! XD But I've still only watched til episode 9. The lack of subtitles is depressing. ><
SUBS WHERE ARE YOU?! O_O It used to be I can more or less understand the crackness, but.. but.. after watching doramas with subtitles, I guess I started relying too much on subs again. ^^; But really, I wish someone would release soft subs soon. I want to fully understand what's happening. :/
Like, for example, what happened after Mari and Kazushi's kiss?! WHY WERE THEY ACTING AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED AFTERWARDS? And why did Ayako-chan turn down Kazushi? Or did she even really turn him down? o_o And, uh, why did Dragon leave? You see what's going on but you don't know WHY they're going on. Feh. =_=
And I'm still looking for an mp3 of the ending theme. :/

There was supposed to be a Jun rave here, but I felt too lazy. I just wanted to post this and get it over with so I can read the newly released Eyeshield 21 chapters. Heh. :p
Oh! And I also want mp3s of the piano versions of V6's Feel Your Breeze and Otsuka Ai's Planetarium. Who has them? Or who knows where I can download them? ^^;;;
I wish I made
poyayan download Kindaichi 3 for me earlier -- more MatsuJun goodness, nyah. :p Oh well, next time, with a bunch of other doramas friends are downloading. *cough*
kuro_inu
crux_australis*cough* I LOVE YOU GUYS. :D
