[dorama] GYABOOOO~!!!
Apr. 13th, 2007 03:37 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I'd heard about this quite a while ago (it was one of the most anticipated doramas of the Autumn 2006 season), but I was skeptical. I have never liked classical music and I don't care much about orchestras. The idea of Ueno Juri and Endo Yuya appealed to me, but back then, Ueno Juri wasn't all that big for me (the way she is now, I guess, but I'll talk about her later). Anyway, I didn't realise there was so much crack involved. And you know me, I enjoy my crack. Not to mention the cast! Not only Juri and Yuya, but Hiroshi Tamaki and Eita and Takenaka Naoto! And a whole slew of others I've enjoyed from various other shows.
Anyway, I've been thinking, and well,
I ship this:

And of course, I ship this:

But can you blame me if I'm seeing the ultimate squee in this?!?!

THEY LOOK SO GHEI IT HURTS. Especially in that second picture -- don't you think Mine looks like he just wants to ravish Chiaki then and there?! O_O
Anyway, back to this:

Someone tell me they are canon. Or at least implied canon? Even if only in the manga version? Although it'd be awesome if they're all good in the dorama too, I feel sorry for Eita, who hardly ever gets the girl. When he and Nodame first met and he went "Kawaii~" I just shook my head, and said, "Poor Eita, once again, he's not going to get the girl again." But then the story went on and Mine (Eita's character) just went on to treat Nodame as a friend, and then I saw his interactions with Kiyora, and I thought, "Hmm, maybe."
Especially since they're such a secondary-shoujo-couple type. You know, those two characters in the background, usually sidekicks (or just good friends of the main OTP) who end up having a thing for each other? Yeah, they seem like that type of couple to me. So yeah, I'm shipping them ~ ♥
Oh, also:

Takenaka Naoto makes me happy. He is the source of SO. MUCH. CRACK. His Franz Strezemann is admittedly kind of creepy and disgusting and too pervy to be true (plus what is up with the overtanned face?!) but it's Takenaka Naoto! How can you not laugh when he's on your screen?!
And, of course

I'm not as in love with him as I was when I first saw him play Ryoma in TeniMyu, but he's still adorable. And also full of SO. MUCH. CRACK. Just like in Roketto Boisu ~ ♥
More points:
- I first saw Hiroshi Tamaki in Waterboys (which, as we all know, I love -- after I ran out of Nodame episodes I proceeded to rewatch said film for the umpteenth time, and until now, I continue to be amused) where he played Afro-Mole guy Sato. I liked him there, but Holy Cow, Sato is a dozen lightyears away from Shinichi Chiaki. For one, Chiaki has over-lipstick-ed dry lips and Sato has that huge absurd mole. Heh.
- As for Ueno Juri, I saw her first in Swing Girls (which is basically the female equivalent of Waterboys, except with Big Band instead of Synchro Swimming; and okay, she was also in Orange Days, but you abrely notice her there anyway) and I really enjoyed her there. Although I didn't exactly go around looking for stuff she's been in. And then a few days earlier I saw Engine, which also had her in the cast (as the oldest of the orphans, Misae), and I also enjoyed her there. And then I went on to watch Nodame Cantabile (but not before rewatching Swing Girls right before hee) and now I love her. ♥
- The manga did not interest me before but now I want it. And I will get my hands on it. Soon. ;)
On the other hand, I know everybody is also pretty much in love with Kurosagi and all (plus I know there's a whole YAY factor with Yamapi and Horikita Maki), and while I'm more or less enjoying it, I don't find myself going gaga over it. I can't bring myself to invest, which is sad, because on paper, it seems like the sort of thing I'd enjoy.
Urgh. I just realised, what with the music relations and all: I want a BECK live action dorama. Actually a live action movie would suffice, but a dorama would be awesome. But I guess a series would be difficult, esp if it bleeds over the American tour, so yes, I'd be happy with a movie ~ ♥
Which means, this is now the list of the manga I'd really really want to see a live action version of:
01. Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge (Perfect Girl Evolution) - I have lost count of how many time I've mentioned wanting to see a live action of this. Living, breathing Kyohei and Sunako! And Oda and Morii and Yuki and Noi. BUT! Kyohei nand Sunako! Rumors of a live action actually circulated the internet last year, but feh, it turns out they were false. Or are probably false since until now nothing has come about those rumors. :/
02. Lovely Complex - Yes, I know there's a movie. I've seen it and Teppei was fuck spot on as Otani. But I'd really have preferred a series. Even if it only ran for 9 episodes I would be ecstatic. I'd love to see the whole relationship actually develop, and with better pacing. And I wouldn't mind if Fujisawa Ema is replaced, but they better keep Teppei as Atsushi.
03. Koukou Debut - Shoujo manga make the best live action series. KD would make an awesome dorama, don't you think? Especially if the right people were cast. Although for some reason Nagasawa Masami keeps playing Haruna in my head. I don't know why. o_o
04. BECK - !!!!! Like I said above, a series is preferred, but a movie would suffice. Koyuki and Maho and Taira and Sakurai and Chiba, and okay, fine, Ryusuke too -- in flesh and blood! And I know for sure the soundtrack would be awesome. (Although, despite the initial disappointment at Koyuki's voice, I already fell in love with the anime OST so it'd be hard to top that, I guess.)
05. Hanazakari no Kimitachi e - Except, you know, a Japanese adaptation this time around. ^^; (A Japanese adapation of Akuma de Sourou, then, would be something I'd also enjoy.)
06. Random Walk - !!! Or maybe Mint na Bokura? Any Yoshizumi Wataru title come to life would make me squee with joy -- and yes, I've seen the Taiwanese Marmalade Boy adaptation. This'd make the most interesting dorama though. For those who want to know, Random Walk is basically, uh, Clueless (but not so much Jane Austen's Emma), except Japanese.
07. Meitantei Conan - With an actual chibi Conan! I love Oguri Shun, but come on! Why make a Detective Conan LA adaptation only to NOT HAVE the little kid on?! Plus I also want there to be an Ai if they ever do this. You all should know how much I love Ai. Even more than I love Ran, who, actually, I don't really love. I actually don't care much for her come think of it. But Ai, I LOVE.
08. Aishiteruze Baby - Which remains one of my absolute favorites, and is the reason why I continue to stack up on Yoko Maki titles. Kippei and Kokoro and Yuzu-chan in flesh and blood? LOVE. I can even see in my head how the episodes would progress!
09. W-Pinch - !!!! Would make an interesting, funny dorama. There is SO. MUCH. CRACK. To be had if they ever tried adapting it. XD
10. I'll/Generation Basket - Well, not so much now as I think I'm more or less over this manga. But, you know, if they made a live action version, I'd definitely check it out. Although they probably won't make Hiiragi/Akane canon which just blows. Feh. >:p
10. Kareshi Kanojou no Jijyou - If only for Tonami and Sakura ~ ♥
How about you, which of your favorite manga would you want to see live action versions of?

Date: 2007-04-13 07:50 am (UTC)I think there was news (although I don't remember them saying it was a rumor. But I really don't remember) that Ryo Nishikido(Attention Please) and Horikita Maki(nobuta) will be starring as Sano and Ashiya in an adaptation of Hana Kimi this July or June. A lot of people confirmed the translation as well.
I think Tegoshi(Sakura-something in my boss my hero) would be a good Otani ^_^. Just for the fact that I love him and he looks very chibi-sh. He also sings really well(love song op and end!). Either him or Massu, because he's got the greatest smile for a chibi. The cuteness factor would rise as well because of them.

Date: 2007-04-13 08:34 am (UTC)As for Tego as Otani -- err, sorry but I'll have to disagree. To be honest, I don't really care much for Tego (I'm sorry!) but Otani is basically my ideal shoujo manga leading male (except, you know, he's short). Massu I like, but I'm not sure he'd do a good Otani, despite his cheerfulness and his cute smile. I think by now I will have a hard time accepting anyone who's not Teppei playing Otani. :p

Date: 2007-04-13 08:08 am (UTC)I don't know the guy but I just love his random appearrances in NC. Complete crack and so enjoyable ^^.
The german professor creeped me out in a good way ^^. The way he talks is completely mad o_O.
Argh you are going to be so HAPPY about your first ship ^^. That's all I'm going to say ^^.
The list:
01- I don't know it. As for me, I dream of a One Piece adaptation. You know, pirates, treasures, adventure and all. But it's quite impossible because 1- it's going to be difficult to find a good cast for those awesomes characters; 2- the cgi are going to be crap we know it ^^.
02- I can't believe I must be on the few to not have seen that movie yet :/. Seems lovely really. So speaking about movies, I wish they'd do a Battle Royale serie adaptation. A lot of things weren't like in the book or even like the manga (the role of the crazy guy in particular). So it would be great. Violent, desperate but great ^^.
03- I don't know it either (actually I'm watching at your list, I don't know any of them :/). Shoujo would make a great drama indeed (look at HYD), if the cast is well done I'm pretty sure Gals! would have a great audience. It's the story of kogals in Tokyo (mainly Shibuya and Kubekuro) who fights crime and prejudice. It really is cool.
06- You talk about Jane Austen. Good point. I had the same wish in my drama meme here (http://lydzi-de-galles.livejournal.com/48352.html) . Jane Austen's stories adapted in a modern j-drama would be so absolutely awesome!!! They really should do it.
07- Was it good? I mean the Conan with Oguri-san? I wanted to see it badly but I had so many things downloading that I forgot to add it :/.
Complex could be a good adaptation too. It's about the world of fashion. Hot Gimmick would be easy but a lot too hentai for japanese television I guess ( when you see that they don't even kiss...at least not in the ones I saw :/). Fruit Basket would be delightful but I'm afraid of the cg effect that would be use.

Date: 2007-04-13 08:56 am (UTC)I think I'd enjoy a One Piece musical though, you know, from the likes of TeniMyu, BleachMyu and NaruMyu. Or maybe in my head I'd just formed a sort of division where Shoujo Manga = Dorama and Shounen Manga = Musical. :p
The Lovely Complex movie is... okay. I guess if you're not a huge fan of the manga you'd enjoy it more? I mean I liked it, but it was lacking for me in so many parts which is why I want a series adaptation.
And yes, now that you mention it, a Battle Royale series would be interesting. Except maybe there won't be as much gore?
I thought of putting Super GALS! in my list too, but all these other ten came to mind first. ^^; As for the stuff in my list, they are mainly shoujo, because like I said above, in my mindset, Shoujo Manga = Drama Adaptations. Plus I have a thing for shoujo manga. Give me shoujo title and I'd have either read it or I'd try it. :p
Hmm, I was thinking of Yoshizumi Wataru adaptations in 6, but yes! Any of Jane Austen's works modernized and set in Japan? I'd definitely tune in!! I love Jane Austen, eeh. ^^;
I wanted to see it badly but I had so many things downloading that I forgot to add it :/.
I haven't seen it either. For the exact same reason. Haha. I can't even put it on the top of my priority download list because while they say it's good, I still want a little Conan.

Date: 2007-04-13 08:10 am (UTC)Mine/Kiyora is canon. You'll see and squee and maybe even feel your heart move a little because of them. I lovelovelove them to pieces, they're one of my absolute fave secondary pairings.. I'm actually always huge on secondary pairings but especially these two because they just have the awesomest thing going and eee, I don't wanna spoil you so I won't ramble.
You know, I'm the biggest fan of m/m I know - well, almost anyway - and I really didn't see Mine/Chiaki. I only noted it after people pointed it out. Though now that I've done some rewatching, yeaaah, Mine is sort of ghei for Chiaki. But who isn't?! If I was male, I would be, too.
This drama is just SO well-made, I swear to god. Also, like, the manga is about music and obviously for anything about music, the audio-visual format is more ideal. I don't like classical much, not enough to listen to it on my freetime anyway, but after this drama I had to get my hands on Beethoven's 7th (S Oke concert piece!!) and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue (ending song). And the comedy and the acting.. Everything works. Period. It's just amazing.
I don't like the style of the manga but I am so in love with the characters I might read some of it just for that. The same thing happened with the Taiwanese drama of Hana Kimi - I read the manga purely because I'd fallen in love with the charas on the drama.
I second not going gaga over Kurosagi. Then again, not a Yamapi fan over here so that basically does it. Maki is adorable, though.

That's actually kind of funny, because I don't care much for slash, but that scene just made me go "WHUT." Eita/Mine's expression shows it all!!
I am really really REALLY enjoying the dorama. I tried th manga out before, but didn't get through the first chapter, although now I don't remember why. I think I tried it out at a time when I wasn't in the mood for reading manga? I want to try it out again, because this dorama has me really investing in the characters and the story.
I'm not a Yamapi fan either, and I assumed maybe that's why I'm not head over heels Kurosagi. I wasn't a Maki fan before either, in NwP, but yes, I like her here.

Date: 2007-04-13 11:50 am (UTC)I really really really want a live action series of Lovely Complex. I know there's an anime too, now, but a live action series would be most awesome!
Everything about KD would make a good dorama, no?

Date: 2007-04-13 11:45 am (UTC)I'm trying to imagine Horikita Maki as Ashiya, and I can't really see it, but if the Japanese adaptation really does happen and she gets casted, then that would be awesome, 'cause she's one of my favorite actresses. I don' know about Ryo though, but then again, I don't even know much of him. He seems kind of...mean? From what everyone has said of him.[/end ranting about Hana-Kimi]
Other mangas I would want as a dorama...
W Juliet: As [sometimes] boring as W Juliet is, I'd actually want to see a guy cross dressing, just to see if he can pull it off. And the plot is cute...ish. :]
Girl Got Game: This is pretty much the Tokyopop version of Hana-Kimi [published in VIZ], only 14 volumes less, and with a kinda crazier plot[?].
Eerie Queerie: The Yaoi-nesssss. *O*
NANA: They have an anime and two movies already. A dorama adaptation would be cool.
Fushugi Yuugi: The closest I've seen to anything remotely like this was Satomi Hakkenden, and I haven't even finished that. v.v
Pita Ten: I have really no clue why I'd want this, it's just a cute manga. xD

Date: 2007-04-13 11:53 am (UTC)And I actually like both Ryo and Maki, but I'm not sure they'd fit as Sano and Mizuki though? For one, I feel like Ryo isn't tall enough, haha. And I'm not sure, adorable as she is, if Maki would make a pretty boy. Eeeh. :p
For cross dressing in live action, have you seen the Princess Princess dorama? ^^;
And Girl Got Game has, uh, basketball right? And a love triangle? And was originally called Power!! ?? I think I read the first few volumes. It would make a fitting dorama. XD

Date: 2007-04-13 05:25 pm (UTC)Love some of your suggestions for live action! Especially 1, 3, and 8. They would have to cast a very cute and talented kid to play Yuzu-chan, though!
10 might be interesting, but they would have to use a young cast. I wouldn't have the patience to watch 20 and 30-somethings play out that high school drama. The stuff with Soichiro's history and family might be too intense and depressing for live-action, though. And it could be hard to depict a lot of their internal struggles. Still, it would be interesting to see them pull off a live action.
Hmm, I can't think of other manga (not mentioned or already serialized) which I've read that would make a good drama series and offer something new, outside of the typical frictionous couples who eventually fall in love.
I think the series Land of the Blindfolded by Tsukuba Sakura would be an interesting concept to base a series on. I loved the characters of Arou, Kanade, and Namiki - three fairly normal high school students, two who have the power to see into the future, one who can see into people's past. But the manga itself was too short and would need more actiony situations to make a decent series. The triangle of Arou, Kanade, and Namiki was cute and funny, though. And the boys had good angsty pasts. I like the psychic aspect, which would be something interesting to play with in a drama.

Date: 2007-04-14 04:17 am (UTC)I think I just want to see 10 because of the side characters? Because to be honest, I didn't care much for the two main leads but I loved the sides. I think they were who I was thinking of when I listed that down. So I might;ve completely forgotten about Arima's past? Haha. But then, they could always lighten the tone of that. They do that all the time anyway, creative license and all that.
I'm sure they can find a cute kid to play Yuzu-chan. I really want to see it, ahhh~

Date: 2007-04-13 06:31 pm (UTC):raises hand sheepishly: I'll admit that was my main driving force in starting and obsessing over the series...because the ending of Nobuta left me feeling oh so very hollow. xDDD; I know what you mean though, if I wasn't in the obsessive fangirly mode that I was, I probably would'nt have enjoyed it as much as I did either. xD
Ahh live action manga adaptionsss! I totally agree with most of the stuff on your list. PGE, which I only read halfway I think, was just so much fun. and gee, I wonder how I'd feel about a LoveCom liveaction with Koike Teppei... ADJLKFJLSF I'd be all over that. I wouldn't care if they replaced the rest of the cast (actually, I'd prefer it) as long as they kept Teppei...who is the EPITOME of Otani, hands down.
Koukou Debut would also be fantastic! (Now that you mention it, she seems like she'd fit Haruna. Girly roles don't really fit her...though I may be proven wrong if she does a good job in PD) I've heard rumors of the Hanakimi LA with Maki and Ryo too...not sure how I feel about that. But I'd probably watch it for Maki anyway. xDD
I never got too far with Random Walk but I remember liking it...W-Pinch didn't have too many scanslations out either right? The one with the bi-polar personality girl? xDD
I have a feeling if they did make a Conan with little kids, it'd be this cheesy kind of affair. I don't think there are too many kids that could pull off such...maturity. I didn't like the LA special much either. Oguri Shun is awesome but he was too...nonchalant as Shinichi. That and I hate Kurokawa Tomoka. >3> I actually like Ran but I really didn't like her portrayal.
LOL I ramble too much in my comments. But ooh, I agree with person above who suggested the Land of the Blindfolded! I adore that manga and it wouldn't need cheesy special effects...and omg it's just such a cute series. I'd expect myself to be able to list more but I guess I haven't really been paying attention to anime/manga lately. Ooh, amybe Penguin Brothers? That's be neat. Oh, and those rumors about an Ouran LA! That would be cool too. 8D

Date: 2007-04-14 03:59 am (UTC)PGE would make a CRACKTASTIC dorama. And I love crack. ♥ And I think I'm probably the last person to have heard of the Maki and Ryo HanaKimi adaptation. (But, like I said above, I don't really see them in the roles. :p)
Yes, W-Pinch is the one with the girl who has split personality disorder. She was a bully as a kid, until she fell over a stairs and turned into this meek little girl. Years later, all these boys she bullied has come looking for her (to get revenge) but of course now she's just a pathetic little weakling. But then every now and then that other personality surfaces and.. yeah, well, just think of the crack possibilities! Haha
Detective Conan with actual kids would be hard to pull off, but I still kind of want to see it. :p
And Penguin Brothers!! I'd like to see a live action version of that too!! And it wouldn't be hard!! As for Land of the blindfolded (that's Mekakushi no Kuni right?) I've read some of it but not a lot, but that'd be interesting too.

Date: 2007-04-13 11:05 pm (UTC)About the whole manga to drama thing, I just talked to one of my friends about how they should make PGE a show because it's so awesome! And the Sunako/Kyohei relationship would be so much fun to watch. Please please drama gods, I beg you to make a live action PGE. I'd also definitely want to see a KD drama as well. Here's to hoping it comes true!

And I tell you, I have been praying for a PGE dorama for years now. Ack!! I hope the prayers reach them, LOL.

Date: 2007-04-14 09:40 am (UTC)I'm ultimately Chiaki x Nodame in NC, particularly because I have Nodame's bad, and only the bad characteristics and it would be nice to have a Chiaki around to feed and bathe me. I just gave you a bad mental image, didn't I? Hehe. XD
I wish there's a Jdrama adaptation for Hanakimi too. There are rumors, but, they're still just rumors. Sigh.

Date: 2007-04-15 05:27 am (UTC)And Mine really is gay around Chiaki even in the manga! There was a scene where he texted Chiaki "i'm yours \^O^/" and Chiaki closes his eyes and smiles, making Kiyora ask him if the message was from his girlfriend. XD Did they include that in the drama??

Date: 2007-04-15 06:16 am (UTC)Wala naman yung text? Although I've only seen until episode 8 right now. Pero LOL. Natawa ko. :))
I wish I wish I wish....
Date: 2007-04-15 08:04 pm (UTC)I agree with you for most of the "wish was turned drama"
Definitely Kare Kano, Hana Kimi, and Koukou Debut <3 And I'm with you, even if they have tawainese I'd still wish there was a japanese version (like Han Kimi or Akuma de Sourou,). I can't tell you how excited I was when they made the japanese Hana Yori Dango despite Meteor Garden.
Ashiteruze Baby would be SO CUTE live action!
Hmmn other series that might be good...
Host Club (ahhh just picture the guys..)
W-Juliet (I would be jumping off the walls in happiness)
Othello (come on split personality would be great on screen! :D)
Hot Gimmick
Skip Beat
Beauty Pop
Doubt

Date: 2007-04-16 01:59 am (UTC)I'm kind of starting to want to watch the Nodame anime too, that's how much I'm enjoying the dorama!! Because it's been a long time since I've been in the mood to watch anime. (I think I've graduated from anime, gaaaah.)
All your suggestions are good, but I want to see the Beauty Pop one, because that would be an awesomely unique dorama. ♥
